OLS Reflections Treinta y Seis — The Wickedly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Treinta y Seis — The Wickedly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. And then I forget again.”
    — Confucius’ distant cousin, Confusius

  • Marriage is called an ‘institution’ because you must be somewhat mental to get into it. You first seek asylum but then end up living in one. You don’t believe me? Well, in Spanish ‘Esposas’ means wives as well as handcuffs. But hey, that’s just a linguistic coincidence.

ADDENDUM 2021: OLS Reflections Settantatre — The Flagrantly Unfun Ones.

  • A few friends and I decided to celebrate the next Columbus Day by walking into someone’s house and telling them we live there now. After a while they will get used to the idea and share their food with us, maybe some stuffed turkey. History is truly the best of teachers.

  • Suffer-Ring

We know the average divorce rate to be around 50 percent. And since quite a bit of friends and loved ones have been there, I hereby offer you a new tradition, which could help the situation and hopefully lessen the pain, agony, and suffering of those involved.

If you have doubts that you may have married the wrong partner, you should be allowed to wear your wedding ring on the wrong finger. Each finger denotes a certain degree of dissatisfaction. Once the hand options are exhausted, you can proceed to your toes — that is, if you sincerely care about saving the relationship.

Now you are obviously asking how would the ring fit all other fingers and toes. Well, this is the catch: To engage the partner, they have to pay for the new mock “suffer-ring” which will be used during the transition. A new one for every new finger or toe.

Then, if the partner doesn’t take any action about the regression you finally take off the ring, ending the suffer-ring and carrying on with your own life. You do not have to feel bad about it because you know you have given them as many chances as you can count on your fingers... and toes. If need be, you can actually give them the finger on your way out. I bet many marriages would be saved that way.

    Insightfully Yours

  • Have you ever noticed how die-hard fanatics of certain sports rarely know how to play the sport themselves? And I mean jersey-wearing, bumper-sticker, violently temperamental ones who tend to overidentify with the team while losing themselves in the surrounding hyper-masculine herd-culture commonly found nowadays.

Those who do play can certainly be fans. But usually, they are not the overly emotional or aggressive hooligan-type who may casually get into viscous, often drunken fights with rival fans — nowhere other than in the very stadium they went to to watch a mere game and support their team, supposedly to also have fun in the process. Maybe the relative coolness of such player-fans goes back to having a better understanding of how the sport is actually played, or possibly even what playing really means.

  • Sometimes, it’s wise to warn them that once wouldn’t be enough. #PillowTalk

  • Some people are just smart enough to realise they are not smart enough.

  • I was always one of those who ate pretty fast. In fact, I speak fast, I walk fast, I drink fast, probably because I also think fast. That’s just how it was and mostly still is. At least that’s what many people told me.

When it comes to eating, however, the last several years when I began cooking and going healthy I decided to slow down while having meals. Meaning, eating slowly and enjoying the company, if there is one. So, now when I sometimes have a yummy meal by myself I orchestrate an imaginary discussion in my mind. Not a real one though, since there is a constant ‘real’ conversation going on in there anyways. But this is fake and it’s all about time intervals between the different bites. You know, as if I’m having dinner with someone and engaging in a conversation.

This way I can take food pauses between the imaginary “speaking” and “listening”, maybe have a sip of wine, and end up by eating slowly and enjoying the food, rather than getting into a feeding frenzy as many of us tend to do when alone and no one is watching. This is how assuming the observer role can help our every-day humanness.

Remember, when you lose your mind it doesn’t go anywhere; it just becomes more entertaining.

    Coo Coo Ca-Choo 👻

  • A man and a woman lived happily for 32 years. And then they met.

  • Sometimes I feel like I have come to master the elusive language of women and can fluently decipher and translate it. Then something happens with a woman which cracks the code I have been working on for more than 25 years. There is indeed some truth to the saying, “Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.”

OLS Reflections ثمانية وعشرون — The Tranquilisingly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections ثمانية وعشرون — The Tranquilisingly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • I like females who can express themselves through grimaces, as in animated faces. It shows they are comfortable in their own skin and confident about who they are.

  • One day, I’d like to have a baby boy so I can dress him in my favourite team’s jersey then go around telling people how much I’m proud of him because he just happens to cheer for the same team.

  • It is truly remarkable how all recent presidents of Egypt are insisting on entering history from its asshole.

  • Smoking hash in California is like speaking French there; it makes you look sophisticated, even when you’re not.

  • “I LOVE the feeling of a condom on my penis,” said no man ever.

  • According to Creationism humanity was born out of incest, different degrees of it. Let that sink in for a moment, consanguineous Brothers and Sisters.

  • The time it takes you to realize that it’s too soon to leave the house after ingesting the “Drink-Me” Magick Potion is inversely proportional to the time it takes you to realize that it’s too late. Just kidding: Time is an illusion.

  • 2016 marks my twentieth year of living alone, which means that I’ve lived alone more than I did with people. And sometimes we wonder how come I enjoy solitude so much or why I took writing as a vocation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I think it’s about time humanity gets rid of clothes hangers with non-rotating hooks.

OLS Reflections पच्चीस — The Soothingly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections पच्चीस — The Soothingly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • I want to invent some kind of earphones to be plugged into motorcycles so that only the rider can hear the loud, noisy, disturbing roar instead of bothering everyone around them. Just because riders seem to enjoy it so much. So actually we’ll be doing them a favour. Unless… they secretly enjoy bothering everyone while portraying this macho “Look at me. Look at me” attitude. If so, then our little thoughtful invention here shan’t be a successful investment.

  • No, AutoCorrect! I never, ever, ducking mean to write ‘ducking’.

  • We never see cops stuck in traffic, huh. They either know where jams are beforehand so they avoid them, or they simply use the siren whenever they’re stuck.

  • Every time I swallow a mandarin seed I can’t help but to think of an awkward future. What if it grows up inside of me and one day I would have to tell her that the reason why she’s alive is that I ate her mom.

  • Whenever seeing friends who look like each other I’m always tempted to ask them if they’re friends because they look alike or do they look alike because they’re friends.

  • Some people never floss their teeth in fear of what they may find in there.

  • Dear Facebook, what’s the point of giving our News Feed the option between “Top Stories” and “Most Recent” if you’ll neurotically keep changing it to “Top Stories”?

  • When leaving Denver a couple of years ago the departure time of my flight to L.A was 4:20. True story. For some seconds, if not a full minute, I thought it’s a kind of a T-Mobile Flash mob airport joke/dance they’re playing on me. Well, on us. But it wasn’t. Just me after a first visit to the Mile-High City the year cannabis was legalised. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I wonder what would happen if cops stop you and ask for ID, so with a straight, sincere face you show them your medical marijuana card.

  • I know I’m writing about a heavy topic whenever I don’t think of sex as much as I normally do.

OLS Reflections Venti — The Quiescently Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Venti — The Quiescently Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

Exactly one year later, I give you list-article number 20 from the OLS Reflections...

  • Jalapeñonated: Being so assertive and dogmatic in one's opinions that your face turns red and you start sweating and tearing.

  • Square toilet seats for round buttocks are like pizza boxes for pizzas. They may fit but that’s not it.

  • Besturbing: Causing anxiety and worry in the most excellent, outstanding way.

  • StaYin Yang ☯

  • Have you tried McDonald’s new seizure salad? You'd butter not.

  • According to recent studies, intelligent people use more curse words than smart-arse mumfuckers.

  • Victoria’s secret is that she’s a starving 11-year-old model.

  • Xgeva, Xanax, Xtandi, Xalkori, Effexor, Dexedrine, Benzedrex, Subutex, Suboxone, Desoxyn, Zaltrap, Zyprexa, Zykadia, Zelboraf, Zyrtec, Zytiga, Zestril, Zocor, Zantac, Zoloft, Zyban, Otezla, Benzedrine. Pharmaceutical companies choose to add the letters ‘X’ and ‘Z’ to the names of their meds so that we find them compleX and believe they know what they’re talking about.

  •  مُختَرِع الأوهو كان أمير من اللاذقية. أمه كان اسمها ست الكللة وأبوه كان هاري نفسه سكوتش

  • Some folks hear voices. Some see invisible people. Some can taste music. Others can smell colours. And then there are those who have no imagination whatsoever.

OLS Reflections Siebzehn — The Peacefully Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Siebzehn — The Peacefully Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • Eight out of ten times when I see anything with ‘DKNY’ on it I think of a donkey.

  • You can add sun to my Sundays. Even one day fun to my funeral. But don’t you dare putting turd in my Saturdays.

  • I go to an underwater gym to grow my mussels.

  • When someone throws a tantrum I usually duck.

  • I saw a man on the beach skillfully flying a kite, so I told him to keep it up.

  • AutoCorrect has become my worst enema. Oh Shift! This is annoying as he’ll. We’ll, Happy Ducking Halloweed, every buddy.

  • Tonight I will get inside a time machine, attempting to change the course of history. You will know I've succeeded if humans can speak Dolphinese, there is no February 29, and between Saturday and Sunday there is Saturnday.

  • Thinking allowed is aloud.

  • Trisexual: A person who's into having sex while riding a tricycle.

  • Wonders Does Psychology Reverse.

OLS Reflections Quatorze — The Mitigatingly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Quatorze — The Mitigatingly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • Should the fact that we cut down trees using axe handles made of wood be called irony or woody?

  • He just had his first buy experience; it was Rich!

  • Misplaced commas are utterly, egregious.

  • Once in 1997 I let my mind wander. It never came back.

  • On D-Day there were plenty of booby traps. On Double D-Day there were just boobies.

  • Sometimes I use big, fancy words I don’t fully understand to appear like a cathartic sesquipedalian snollygoster.

  • I once took LSD in the clinic of a yellow submarine. There was no periscope or stethoscope, but hey, it was all in kaleidoscope.

  • Life is too short not to have an orgasm everyday. An orgasm a day or two keep the doctor way from you.

  • The skeleton goes to parties alone because he has no body to go with. But he’s bad to the bone, so of corpse he makes no bones about it as it doesn’t get under his skin.

  • I went to a massage parlour and asked for a “happy ending”. They gave me an Annie DVD.

OLS Reflections Dodici — The Appeasingly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Dodici — The Appeasingly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • Life is too short not to have an orgasm every day.

  • The latest teenage generations will never experience the thrill of calling their crush at home and having the dad answer.

  • I haven’t eaten a beer bacon cupcake in 37 years.

  • Sometimes I like to have wild nights that leave me looking like a Picasso the next morning.

  • Spread the Love: Participate in Orgies.

  • I think there is a conspiracy from the bread companies to force us to always leave the loaf’s first two or three pieces of toast uneaten.

  • You laugh because I’m different; I laugh because I’m different.

  • The older I get, the less I give a fuck, the more I enjoy not giving a fuck.

  • When you’re using someone’s bathroom and try to keep the toilet seat up but can’t because it keeps falling, you know you’re in a female-dominated household.

  • If you’re going to eat a banana in public then at least make some eye contact.

  • I once lent my ear to a deaf guy. He still couldn't hear.

  • MILTTT © : Mother I’d Like To Talk To.

  • A bilingual anagramist named Gamal sees beauty in “ Gmail جَمِيل ”.

  • That utterly bizarre moment when you find that seven of your friends have ‘liked’ Kim Kardashian and Facebook is asking you if you want to do the same.

  • Midievil Times: A profoundly bad epoch.

  • Birder: A premeditated killing of a feathered vertebrate.

  • I pity the fool, but I thank him for the entertainment.

  • The guy who invented Greco-Roman wrestling as we know it today must have been gay as a rainbow.

OLS Reflections Seis — The Mollifyingly Unfun Ones

OLS Reflections Seis — The Mollifyingly Unfun Ones by Omar Cherif, One Lucky Soul

  • Jokes about full stops are not funny, period.

  • Sometimes one feels like hugging certain edgy, tense people and saying: “Getting laid [more often] could really help you.”

  • If your F.B relationship status is “It’s Complicated”, it’s probably time to move on.

  • I'm the friend your friends have to tell their friends about before we meet, probably as a friendly warning.

  • I find it strange that with all this technology new towels still cannot properly absorb water.

  • I’ve been around so much that I got dizzy then I got lost.

  • Seriously, McDonald’s sponsoring the World Cup is like Marlboro sponsoring lung cancer research.

  • Behind ANY man is a woman rolling her eyes.

  • “Taking a shit” is a bizarre expression. I usually leave one.

Poème Tragique

Hated, ill-fated, x-rated

Labels in society are integrated

Two souls were isolated, segregated

Mon n pop were kids when they mated

Some months later she was impregnated

He was miseducated, medicated, sedated

She was young and manipulated when she deviated

Penetrated and fornicated
All her short life humiliated, it never ameliorated

Alienated, from the streets she graduated

To hide the pain now she’s opiated,
unconsciously intoxicated

When she met him she felt exhilarated

Thought emancipated, all her life reevaluated

Things between them accelerated, she stated

Their inner demons congregated and amalgamated

Unseparated, they were still kiddos, unilluminated

***

But then things got heated
She felt cheated, defeated
Him, maltreated and mistreated

***

Then

one day baby was irritated and nauseated

constipated not vaccinated

dehydrated, behind the door gated

Mom n pop wasted till ambulated

And the poor baby’s life was checkmated

Devastated and dissipated

Would they now be liberated or annihilated?
